Ever considered buying CB radio for the car?
I've looked on eBay and you can get decent one for around $50.

I'm only saying this because I've tested many walkie-talkies and they all sucked, and having another way to communicate is much more convenient.

cant you get a portable CB radio? other people can listen to those bands though

It takes 12V power so it should be a matter of just plugging it in.
As far as other people listening, same thing goes to walkie-talkie.

Might be a good idea for when we go to H20 or any long distance trips. Would we have a single channel for us to tune in on or would everyone be able to hear what we're saying?

cb's probably wouldn't be bad for a long drive, i'd be down to try it, and then i can just call my work from the cb haha

thats a good idea. i still have 8 cobra walkies i bought last year in case we needed them but as someone will crack a joke i never came out to the show.
